Nutella tiramisù

This has been requested so many times... I am finally posting it here. It's SOOO good. You have to try it!

Recipe :

1 pack of Savoiardi (lady fingers)

250 gr mascarpone

4 eggs

4 tablespoons of sugar (use a regular tbsp, not the measuring tool)

6-8 tablespoons of Nutella (go nuts!)

1/2 cup of milk

chopped hazelnuts

Separate the egg yolk from the egg whites. Put the egg yolk in a medium/large bowl, add sugar and mix very well. Add mascarpone and 2 tablespoons of Nutella.

In another bowl, place the egg whites and beat them to be very firm. Add the egg whites to your medium bowl very gently, pouring them and amalgamating them using a spoon with a movement from bottom to top. This movement will avoid the egg whites to flatten out. This is an extremely important step for the tiramisù to turn out. This will be our cream.

Now take the remaining Nutella and put it in a small bowl. Bring a small pot of water to a gentle boil (just a couple of inches of water) and place the bowl in it. This will melt the Nutella and will make it easier to spread.

Pour the 1/2 cup of milk in a shallow dish.

Take a baking dish and start assembling your tiramisù: dip each savoiardo in milk (3-4 seconds), then place it in the dish. Keep doing this until you have a layer of savoiardi in your baking dish.

Now take the melted Nutella and spread it with a spoon on top of the lady fingers. Add a sprinkle of chopped hazelnuts and cover the layer with the cream we have prepared.

Now create another layer: dip savoiardi in milk, place it in the baking dish, spread Nutella on top, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts, pour the cream: repeat until all your ingredients run out. (Usually you will get two layers with this recipe).

Now take a sifter and sprinkle cocoa on top of your last layer of cream. Place in fridge for at least 5 hours.

Devour!! :)

Tips:

This dessert can be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Not sure it will last you that long... :D

You can buy Savoiardi and Mascarpone at IGA or Safeway. Savoiardi is usually near the bread section, and mascarpone is a cheese, so it will usually be placed in the cheese section.

If you want to omit the Nutella, you can make traditional Tiramisu: you will just need to replace milk with coffee and skip the hazelnuts.
